I headed over to my usual pond on my way home from work last Tuesday. After reeling in a few (1-2 lb range) I got THE bite. This one was different. Strong. Hard. Deliberate. Immediately I knew this was a big fish. After setting the hook, I took my time reeling in, making a point to not over-excite myself and reel in too quickly. Left to right, right to left she pulled. Drag pulling. She stayed under the entire time, not once breaking the surface. After about 3 minutes, she was at the bank ready to make land. I carefully set my pole down, knelt and thumbed her bottom lip. Not the largest LMB I’d ever seen, but a very nice sized one. Bait used: Texas rigged watermelon red Yum Dinger.
